Considering Breastfeeding?

More and more mothers are breastfeeding. Here is what some of them are saying:

  • “I thought I might be embarrassed, but I’m not. It’s so easy to cover up. Nobody ever sees my breasts.”
  • “My first baby had a lot of problems with formula. The doctor said next time I should breastfeed. So I am, and it’s great. Now I can enjoy my baby instead of worrying all the time.”
  • “I was worried that I might not make enough milk. I found out that the more often I breastfeed, the more milk I have.”
  • “My husband didn’t like the idea at first, but he wanted what’s best for the baby. Now he sees that it’s just fine. I think he’s proud of me.”
  • “I thought it would tie me down. But I do everything I want to do.”
  • “I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do it, but it was pretty easy. They helped me a lot in the hospital.”
  • “My nipples were sore at first but the nurses said that was normal. I’m glad I kept breastfeeding. Now they’re fine.”
  • “I really wish I had breastfed my older child. I feel a special closeness to this baby. And night feedings are so much easier!”
  • “My family was afraid that breastfeeding would leave them out. But there’s enough rocking, cuddling and diaper changing for all of us!”
  • “I didn’t want to breastfeed because I thought I had to be on a special diet. But when I found out I could eat the way I usually do, I decided to try it. I’m glad I did.”

So think about breastfeeding!
Women like you are doing it everywhere.  Find out more by asking your doctor, nurse or dietitian for additional information.  Maybe you could be one of the women who says, “I was scared I might not know what to do, but it’s going great. I’m glad I’m breastfeeding.”
