Fruits And Vegetables May Protect Against Cancer

Nobody wants to think about cancer, but there are things we can do to help protect our families.

Eat A Healthy Diet With Lots Of Fruits And Vegetables
This is one way you may be able to reduce your family’s risk of getting some kinds of cancer. Some fruits and vegetables seem to protect against cancer better than others do.

  • The best vegetables seem to be broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. Have several servings a week.

  • Other fruits and vegetables high in Vitamin A and Vitamin C also help. Deep yellow foods like carrots, sweet potatoes and cantaloupe are high in Vitamin A. Oranges, grapefruit, lemons and green peppers are some of the many fruits and vegetables high in Vitamin C.

Start At The Grocery Store

  • Buy more fruits and vegetables. Buy them on sale and in season.

  • For snacks, buy oranges, apples and bananas instead of chips and cookies.

  • Buy more juices. Get some sparkling water, add it to any kind of juice and you’ll have a delicious “fruit soda!”
